MUSIC AND MAORI PERFORMING ARTS
We run a highly popular and successful Itinerant music programme here at Piopio College. Chris Nation visits the college weekly and works with small groups of students during the school day to teach guitar, violin and other stringed instruments.
Students are encouraged to preform publicly as individual or as part of a group. The College also holds it's own Music Performance Day in the Third or Fourth term.
Bond required to hire violin or guitar: $20
Hire of violin or guitar: $10 per term

MAORI PERFORMING ARTS

Piopio College students have excelled and are passionate about the knowledge, skills and expertise that are being provided for their benefit. This encompasses the historical journey of themselves as Māori, of the past, present and future. Students prepare for and perform in the Maniapoto Secondary Schools’ Kapa Haka Festival, known as Waiwaia and other local events. This is an annual festival started by Piopio College more than 30 years ago that sees secondary schools in the district come together to celebrate
