Gateway is available to senior students who are interested in working within the trade industry and allows them to gain hands on experience whilst gaining the required credits towards their NCEA.
Most students spend one day a week (unpaid) within the local workplace for approximately 10 to 20 weeks. Students gain hands on experience as well as key skills such as communication, time management, team member skills, and self motivation which helps prepare them for the wider world once they leave school. Communication between school and the workplace together with many well prepared and supported students have resulted in long-standing and mutually beneficial relationships.
